I love these lights, they just made it around my 4 1/2 foot tree perfectly, with the addition of an extension cord to plug them in. The lights appear whiter than purple on the tree due to the camera, with and without flash; but I can assure you, when lit in person, they do appear purple. The cord is black. They have 8 different settings from flicker, to twinkle, fast flicker, fade and constantly lit. The only thing I did not like about them is that there is no remote included. You have to press a button on the plug to re-set the mode on the lights. A remote would have been handy so I don't have to keep bending over with bad hips and knees to re-set them. My child finds them a bit bright, but I am sensitive to lights and they do not bother me. Can have many uses for other things beside your holiday tree, as they are mini lights, and easy to handle with multi cable wires. Otherwise, they are lovely.
