I ran these lights across the top of my front fence during the Halloween season. They worked great and lit up every night. I live in Michigan and not every day in October is sunny, there are a lot of cloudy days. That didn't seem to affect how the lights charged and I was quite surprised at how well they lit up each night. It was also cool how they all just popped on when it was just getting dark. I ran 3 strings of them and they all seemed synchronized. There are also different mode choices, blinking, fading, always on, etc. My favorite is always on, and I loved the look of the eyeballs peering over the top of my fence each night, spooky cool. I highly recommend them!
