I read other reviews on these lights and was concerned that I would encounter the same problems since I got these specifically to decorate outside.These have been operating as they should since I’ve put them out. So I’m thinking the issues others had might have been due to user error or misunderstanding how battery operated lights work.First off, they are indeed battery operated which means the brightness of the lights will dim as the batteries life fades out. Duh. That doesn’t mean the lights are bad, it means you have to change the batteries.Also with battery powered lights, depending on what setting you choose will determine how long the batteries will last before they start to dim.These lights have 8 settings and a timer. I use the timer function and that gives you more control over battery life. I’m also not concerned about having the lights on overnight so the timer feature works best for me. If you like your lights on overnight then your batteries will die much faster which is no fault of the lights. It’s just how batteries work, another duh for those complaining about how fast they “die”.As I said I used these outside and have had no problems with them continuing to work after being out in the rain. I’m a single mom and don’t have the time or energy to make a big fuss so it’s not like I was all strategic about how I was going to place these to keep the battery box in the ideal spot. Nope. I set them up and placed the box right out on the steps with no protection from the elements and guess what, yup, it works just as good as the day I put them out. And guess what else. I’m still using the same set of batteries as when I first put them out a month ago. Are they super bright? No, not at this point. It’s the same set of dollar tree batteries that I put in a month ago. Am I mad about it? No because I understand how disposable batteries work.When I put these lights up again next year, should I encounter any problems then I’ll come back and update my review but for now I say these are great and work as advertised.
